Extracts chitosan from discarded crab shells to produce biodegradable solutions
Learn moreFounded in 2017, Le Drive Tout Nu is a French company with the joint missions of helping solve the plastic waste crisis and democratising access to high-quality food. LDTN owns and operates a leading network of zero-waste supermarkets and drives, selling locally sourced and high-quality products. The operating model is fully circular, as customers return the containers (glass jars, glass bottles and cloth bags) to LDTN, who then washes them and puts them back into circulation.
LDTN has seen consistent growth each year since its launch and has demonstrated that its model works and can be operated profitably. They are supported by significant regulatory tailwinds, including the AGEC law and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation which both push the industry towards more sustainable practices. The company is now ready to expand and facilitate the grocery industry’s transition towards a zero-waste, circular model.
On average, each French citizen generates nearly 1 kg of waste per day, half of which is packaging. LDTN was founded with the objective of addressing this issue, and their solution is already bearing results: the company achieves a zero-plastic rate (the portion of products which do not use plastic packaging) of 99%, and a zero-waste rate of 70%. They constantly work to increase both figures, pushing suppliers towards more sustainable options. By engaging with all actors in the distribution chain and pushing commitment to zero-waste practices, LDTN contributes to systemic reduction in plastic usage in the food industry.
